Public Review of XBRL US GAAP Taxonomies Closed on January 15, 2009
Public review of the 2009 release is now closed. The XBRL US Project Team is in the process of making final revisions to incorporate comments received. The final taxonomies will be published and available for use by mid-February 2009 but in the meantime, they are available on the XBRL US website for review.

XBRL US completes new taxonomies for Mutual Fund Risk Return Summary and Schedule of Investments
The Mutual Fund Risk/Return Summary taxonomy describes information found in the summary section of mutual fund prospectuses. The Schedule of Investments taxonomy provides details on investments made by investment management companies and other organizations. Both taxonomies went through a public review and comment period, all comments were reviewed and incorporated and they are now completed and available for use.

XBRL US Taxonomy Experts to Conduct SEC Filer Training Workshops in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco
Experts from the XBRL US project team that developed the US GAAP Taxonomies will be teaching in-person training workshops to educate preparers on how to create XBRL-formatted financial statements for mandatory submission to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). These hands-on sessions will demonstrate how to use the XBRL US GAAP Taxonomies and how to convert primary financial statements and block tag footnotes into XBRL format. All attendees will leave the workshop with a completed XBRL-formatted financial statement and a repeatable step-by-step guide. Sessions will be held in Los Angeles on March 11, New York City on May 20, 2009, and San Francisco on September 16, 2009. SEC publishes report on 21st Century Disclosure Initiative
On January 16, the SEC finalized and published their staff report "Toward Greater Transparency: Modernizing the Securities and Exchange Commission's Disclosure System" which was developed out of the SEC's 21st Century Disclosure Initiative, chaired by Dr. William Lutz. The recommendations in this report rely heavily on XBRL as the technology format for SEC disclosures of public company data.

SEC publishes updated EDGAR Filer Manual
XBRL US Free Educational Webinar Series Continues
XBRL US continues its ongoing series of free live webinars designed to help companies implement XBRL reporting. The program includes key steps, decisions and considerations for implementing XBRL, insight from SEC representatives who will provide updates on proposed regulatory activities, how to use a taxonomy and demonstrations on how create XBRL-formatted financial statements.
