XBRL US has developed taxonomies for U.S. GAAP reporting by public companies, credit rating agencies and mutual funds, and corporate actions. White paper "Better Data for Better Decisions: Standards to Improve Corporate Government Reporting" Published Describing Problems in Corporate Reporting and XBRL as Solution

Featuring United Technologies as a case study, the white paper describes the inefficiencies in the current system which result in duplication and cost for public companies, lack of consistency and expense for agencies and time delays and inaccuracies for the public consuming this information. United Technologies spends over 12,000 man-hours on reporting to the BEA, Census Bureau, the SEC, Federal Reserve, Department of Labor and EEOC alone.

XBRL US President and CEO Campbell Pryde to Present XBRL Update at AICPA National Conference on Current SEC and PCAOB Developments, December 7, 2011, Washington, DC

On Wednesday, Dec 7 at 1pm, Campbell Pryde will present at the AICPA SEC conference on XBRL. The session will cover common issues and challenges that were found in these submissions and how to improve the quality of XBRL exhibits.

Standard DATA Act (H.R. 3339) Introduced by Ways and Means Subcommittee Chairman Geoff Davis (R-KY) and Ranking Member Lloyd Doggett (D-TX)

New legislation would establish consistent requirements for the electronic content and format of data used in the administration of human services programs for child care, child support, foster care and adoption as well as unemployment insurance.

Earn CPE at XBRL US SEC Filer Training: Online portion December 13, 2011; in-person training in NYC, December 16, 2011

Learn how to use taxonomies, convert primary financial statements and block tag footnotes in XBRL format. The training starts with a required 90-minute live online presentation and discussion on the US GAAP Taxonomy, SEC requirements and planning considerations.

The second session is an 8-hour hands-on workshop at a training facility in New York. Attendees will be guided through the process of mapping, extending, tagging, creating and validating an XBRL submission. Participants will get hands-on practice with desktop and Web-based applications and learn about the SEC submission process.
