SEC Approves 2011 Release of US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy and Posts to EDGAR
The SEC has posted the FASB's 2011 US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy into the EDGAR System. While the SEC is encouraging registrants to switch to the 2011 release, companies are still allowed to use the 2009 release.

Pre-Release of Corporate Actions Taxonomy Published for Use
XBRL US Posts Combined Entry Points for SEC and FASB Concepts for US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy
To make it easier for external reporting managers to use the US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy, Release 2011, XBRL US has posted an entry point to the taxonomy that combines the SEC and FASB elements. This entry point provides a comprehensive view of the taxonomy elements required to file with the SEC and allows a preparer to see all tags that are available across the SEC and FASB Taxonomies including the presentation, definition and calculation relationships between these elements.
These combined entry points are available in the XBRL US Taxonomy viewer and as a .zip archive at http://xbrl.us/taxonomies/Pages/US-GAAP2011.aspx.

Attend SEC Filer Training Workshop ? now with full-day in-person and 2-hour online sessions
Learn how to use taxonomies, convert primary financial statements and block tag footnotes in XBRL format. The training starts with a required 90-minute live presentation and discussion in our Web conference classroom, led by the workshop trainer to learn core concepts about the US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy, get an overview of SEC requirements, and hear planning considerations and options.
The second session is an 8-hour hands-on workshop at a training facility in New York. After a brief review of materials, a maximum of 16 attendees per class will be guided through the process of mapping, extending, tagging, creating and validating an XBRL submission. Participants will get hands-on practice with desktop and Web-based applications and learn about the SEC submission process. Attendees will qualify for 10 CPEs (2 from the online portion; 8 from the in-person training).
The next session will be held April 1 (90 minutes online) and April 7 (in person).
