The Financial Accounting Standards Board Announces Availability of the 2012 Release of the US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy

On January 18, the FASB published the 2012 release of the US GAAP Taxonomy which is awaiting final acceptance by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The new release contains updates for accounting standards and other improvements to the taxonomy.

SEC Announces XBRL Fellowship Opportunities in Washington, DC

The SEC has invited qualified software developers to apply for an XBRL Fellowship. The fellowship is in the Division of Risk, Strategy and Financial Innovation (RSFI) Office of Interactive Data (OID) and the position will be tasked with compliance with XBRL rules, rule writing support, data analysis and special projects. Candidates should have strong software development skills, direct experience with XBRL enabled software and deep understanding of XML, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, with a collaborative outlook, and exposure to SEC EDGAR Filing Manual and SEC Rendering Engine processing (see http://xbrl.sec.gov).

SEC Announces New Accounting Position in the Office Of Interactive Data for Senior Staff Accountant

This two-year Senior Staff Accountant position requires experience with XML-based structured languages, such as XBRL, as well as SEC reporting and disclosure requirements. The individual chosen will work on a number of interactive data-related initiatives. The posting will be open through Tuesday, February 7.
