DATA Act Passed Unanimously by U.S. House of Representatives

The DATA Act, which is co-sponsored by Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., ranking member of the Oversight Committee, was passed unanimously on April 25, 2012 in the House of Representatives. The bill requires the use of data standards, like XBRL, for federal spending information - building upon the proven "Recovery Operations Center" and the landmark USASpending.gov - to build a single electronic system that combines spending information from agencies, the Treasury, and recipients of federal funds.
