XBRL US GAAP Taxonomies, 2009 Release Public Review ARCHIVE

This site is for historic purposes, only.  The XBRL US GAAP Taxonomies Comment Period Ended January 15, 2009.

The XBRL US Project Team has made final revisions to incorporate comments received during the public review period. The final taxonomies are available for use.

Elements in the XBRL US GAAP Taxonomies describe required disclosures as well as common reporting practices for all public companies traded in US markets. There are five industry-specific taxonomies: Banking and Savings Institutions, Insurance, Real Estate, Broker/Dealer and Commercial and Industrial. The latter collection of terms describes all public companies not included in one of the four financial taxonomies.

If you created XBRL formatted financials using the 2008 US GAAP Taxonomies: Be sure to read the Release Notes which describe changes made in the 2009 release versus the previous set of US GAAP Taxonomies released in April 2008. For companies that have created XBRL-formatted financials using the 2008 taxonomies, this is a good place to start to review what has changed and to determine what adjustments you may need to make to your XBRL templates.
