The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) adopted final revisions to their proposal, Data Collection for Analytics and Surveillance and Market-Based Rate Purposes to collect additional data from certain market-based sellers with ultimate upstream affiliates that have been granted blanket authorization to acquire the securities of those sellers or those sellers’ upstream affiliates. XBRL US submitted a comment letter on June 8, 2021 in response to the proposal, supporting the proposal requirement that an identifier be reported, but strongly encouraging the Commission to require only one identifier type, and urging the Commission to require the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) for all reporting entities.
The final adopted release specifies that an identifier be used but allows reporting entities to select from one of three identifier types. The revisions will become effective 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.
