Program to Feature Technology and Financial Experts

XBRL US, the nonprofit consortium for XBRL reporting today announced topics and speakers in its free webinar series to educate and inform potential contestants in the XBRL Challenge, a contest for developers to build the next great analytical application that consumes XBRL SEC data.Entrants to the XBRL Challenge have an opportunity to win a $20,000 Grand Prize, are given database access and other tools to help them get educated on XBRL and ease the app-building process, and are given significant opportunities to get visibility for their tools through events held by XBRL US.

The webinar series is designed to further educate contestants on technical aspects of XBRL and working with XBRL-formatted US GAAP data, and on business and funding opportunities for startups with XBRL-enabled tools. Upcoming webinars include:

The VC Market and Opportunities for XBRL Applications, November 27, 2012 at 3pm ET – join Philip Moyer, Managing Director, Safeguard Scientifics, where he is responsible for sourcing opportunities in financial technology and Enterprise 3.0. Philip was previously President and CEO of EDGAR Online.

Beyond SEC Reporting – More Opportunities for XBRL, December 11, 2012 at 3pm ET – join Kaitlin Lee, Web Developer, Sunlight Foundation, on significant opportunities in government reporting for structured data.
