With complex taxonomies being updated more frequently than ever, regulators know that taxonomy publishing errors are also on the rise. These errors can slip through unnoticed, but cause a huge amount of repeated work for both regulators, agencies and filers alike. Join our panel of experts on Thursday 28 September to find out about what you can do to reduce these errors and save time and money.

David Shaw, XBRL Project Manager at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), will describe the processes that FASB have evolved to maintain and update the US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy.

Eric Jarry, who joined Banque de France in 2009 and has been responsible for the development and adoption of XBRL reporting since, will discuss the issues with incorrect taxonomies and the impact they have on filers and regulators.

CoreFiling’s Ian Hicks will be chairing the discussion and sharing his knowledge from the XBRL best practices board and advise on the best ways to avoid these disruptions.

What you will learn:

  • Why updated taxonomies aren’t always error-free
  • How to avoid the disruptions caused by an incorrect or incomplete taxonomy
  • Why remedial actions are sometimes just as disruptive as the problems they solve
  • How to create an environment that allows efficient and trouble-free reporting for both filers and regulators.
