When and how are the “Spreadsheet Commands: Query Worksheet and Query Workbook Query Workbook” in the Excel API add-in used? these are the buttons that show up between “Get a free account…” and “Brows Online Documentation” under the XBRL Filed Data tab.

I can query data using the side window and I can auto populate the templates (i.e. FERC-ScheduleReportExplore.xlsx), but if I press query workbook, the spreadsheet tries to refresh and then I am logged out. Wondering if this is some internal security control from my company or if there is something that I need to do related to XBRL or the API. I can’t find video or documentation showing someone using the button or documentation describing its use (and a search under this forum had zero results). I am thinking that this is such a simple question everyone assumes it is obvious.

      Thanks in advance.

Hi Liam – thanks for writing. These buttons can be used to re-run queries either on the active worksheet or across all sheets in a workbook. This is often used with queries based on returning the latest reports or facts.

I’m not able to replicate the issue you describe when using these buttons with a template. Happy to look at your situation during office hour on Monday between 3:30 and 4:30 PM ET (the link for this is posted on the XBRL Data Community page linked at right).
