The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced their plans for EDGAR Next – Improving Filer Access and Account Management. EDGAR Next involves a rule proposal for technical changes to how filers access the EDGAR System to make submissions and how filers manage individuals who make submissions on their behalf. The rule proposal is out for a public comment period until December 1, 2021.

The SEC also announced that they will make available an EDGAR Beta test environment to allow filers to review and test the technical changes proposed. Filers will be able to register to participate in EDGAR Beta, through a Sign up page, starting October 12. The Commission noted that they expect to keep the EDGAR Beta open during the comment period and beyond, when they are reviewing technical changes under consideration.
