The Securities and Exchange Commission announced their plan to host a roundtable on Short-Term / Long-Term Management of Public Companies, Our Periodic Reporting System and Regulatory Requirements. This event will be held on July 18 at 12:30 ET and the public is invited to attend (it will be held at SEC offices at 100 F Street, N.E., Washington, D.C.). The event will also be webcast. Topics for the roundtable are:

  • Impact of a Short-Term Focus on Our Capital Markets
  • Our Periodic Reporting System’s Role in Fostering a Long-Term Focus

The event will be moderated by staff from the Office of Corporation Finance. The SEC is accepting comment letters related to this topic prior to the event expressing views on “the impacts of short-termism on our markets and whether our reporting system, or other aspects of our regulations, should be modified to address these concerns.”
