CEO Mark Bolgiano to Take Technology Strategy Position at Research Organization

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2010 — XBRL US, the national consortium for XML business reporting standards, announced today that Campbell Pryde, the current Chief Standards Officer and head of development, has been named to lead the organization going forward. Mark Bolgiano, who served as the first President and CEO of XBRL US, will be stepping down to lead technology strategy at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a medical research organization headquartered in Chevy Chase, MD. Mr. Bolgiano will move to his new role on December 1, 2010.

“The last four years have been an incredible experience. It’s been an honor to work with the XBRL US membership, board of directors, and staff team to advance the XBRL standard and bring it to market,” said Mr. Bolgiano. “There is no doubt in my mind that the public benefit and economic impact of XBRL business reporting will be profound.”

The board unanimously approved the appointment of Campbell Pryde, who has served as the XBRL US Chief Standards Officer over the past three years, to take over as the new President and CEO. Pryde has been a global thought leader in the architecture and applications of XBRL for eight years at KPMG, Morgan Stanley, and XBRL US. In addition to leading the development of the US GAAP taxonomy currently in use by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr. Pryde led XBRL US Labs efforts that resulted in the recent release of the first ISO-aligned XBRL taxonomy for corporate actions.

Barry Melancon, AICPA President and CEO, and the chairman of XBRL US, said, “Mark, along with the entire team, has been instrumental in establishing XBRL as a widely known and used technology solution in the financial reporting and business information area. Now under Campbell’s leadership, XBRL US will continue to drive widespread XBRL adoption, improve data quality and distribute knowledge through education and training programs.”
