XBRL US submitted a comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in response to the Draft Open-End Fund Taxonomy and supporting materials which included a draft Taxonomy Guide and Sample Filings. The XBRL US letter, which was prepared by a broad group of XBRL US members that support the majority of SEC filers, provided detailed feedback on the taxonomy and guidance addressing concerns over use of abbreviations in concept names, request for documentation labels, guidance on the re-use of concepts across taxonomies, and the need for more sample instance documents to represent various possible scenarios.
The letter also requested additional guidance on timing related to amendments to Tailored Shareholder Reports (TSR), and to the transition of filings that use the Risk Return Taxonomy which was incorporated into the draft OEF Taxonomy.
