An onling training program, specially designed to help accountants and others build the knowledge needed for the creation and review of XBRL financial statements using the US GAAP Taxonomy. All companies that file financial statements with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are required to submit XBRL Exhibits along with their filings using the US GAAP Taxonomy. All individuals pursuing the XBRL US GAAP Certificate of Educational Achievement should possess a base knowledge of US GAAP financial reporting. - What other resources are included with the Certificate program?
Participants will be offered the opportunity to practice applying their new XBRL knowledge and skills in a simulated real-world environment through interactive simulations using specific XBRL software tools designed to correspond with examples presented in some of the XBRL Footnote Tagging modules. - How long will it take me to complete all of courses of the XBRL US GAAP Certificate Program?
This varies from individual to individual and is dependent upon the time the participant allocates to completing the coursework. Expect a commitment of approximately 40 hours to successfully complete the program. - What period of time do I have to complete the entire curriculum?
Once you enter the program you have twenty-four (24) months from the date you start the first course. No. The XBRL US GAAP Certificate is not a professional credential or license. It is evidence of successful completion of a required course curriculum as of a point in time. Completing the curriculum will result in earning approximately 40 credits. All of these hours will qualify for CPE credit and can count toward meeting your state’s CPE requirements. - Will the CPE credit satisfy my requirements for CMA, CIA or other certifications?
The courses in the XBRL US GAAP Certificate program will be classified as Accounting for purposes of granting CPE credits. As with other AICPA courses that are approved for other certifications, we fully expect the XBRL US GAAP Certificate courses will satisfy those requirements. To be certain, please check with the organization that issues your CMA, CIA or other certifications. - If I am unable to complete the entire XBRL US GAAP Certificate Program, will I receive CPE credit for the courses I do complete?
Yes. The courses are offered individually, so you will earn NASBA QAS CPE credit for each course you take and successfully complete the exam. You are not required to complete the entire program to earn CPE credit. However, you must successfully complete the exam for all required courses in the entire program in order to receive the XBRL US GAAP Certificate of Educational Achievement. - I have prior experience in working with XBRL. Will I be allowed to test out of certain courses while still earning the certificate?
Actual completion of the courses is required to earn the XBRL US GAAP Certificate. CPE credit is being awarded for the courses, and the CPE standards do not allow for “testing out of” a course as a way to earn credit. - Is the entire program fixed, or are their elective courses I can select from in earning the certificate?
The core curriculum for the XBRL US GAAP Certificate is fixed. It is designed to provide participants with a solid understanding of how to work with the US GAAP Taxonomy for SEC reporting including tagging financials, detailed footnotes, validation, extensions, managing release versions and best practices. In order to receive the XBRL US GAAP Certificate of Educational Achievement all required modules must be completed. Optional footnote modules will be available for those who purchase the Certificate Program but these will not be required nor will they count towards earning the certificate, however CPE credit can be earned for optional modules also. - If I register and pay for the entire program, and subsequently find that I cannot complete it, will I receive a partial refund?

The Foundation Certificate provides 10 hours of content for accountants, XBRL technologists and tool and service developers at all levels, giving a fundamental understanding of the ramifications of using XBRL to meet business objectives.
